Overview

Dolmabahçe Palace is a beautiful royal residence located by the Bosphorus in Istanbul. It was built between 1843 and 1856 during the rule of Sultan Abdülmecid I and later became the main office of the Ottoman Empire. The palace covers a large area of 45,000 square meters and combines both Ottoman and European architectural styles, including elements of Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical design.

The Ceremonial Hall is home for the largest Bohemian crystal chandelier in the world. Its extravagant interiors include gold-plated ceilings, detailed wooden floors, and luxurious furniture.

Dolmabahçe Palace is also historically important as the place where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, spent his last days in 1938. The palace symbolizes the final splendor of the empire and remains a significant cultural and historical site in Turkey.
