Overview

Pamukkale invites visitors to its renowned white calcium pools, which are fed by hot spring water, making it one of Turkey's most Instagrammable destinations. Explore the nearby Hierapolis Ancient City and the stunning white pools of Pamukkale.

Pamukkale is a beautiful spot in Denizli Province, Turkey, famous for its stunning white terraces and ancient ruins. "Pamukkale" means "Cotton Castle" in Turkish, which perfectly describes the fluffy, white look of the terraces created by mineral-rich thermal waters.

This place has been a go-to spa destination since Roman times, with the ancient city of Hierapolis right next door. Hierapolis has fantastic ruins, like a big Roman theater, a necropolis filled with sarcophagi, baths, and the Temple of Apollo. There's also the ancient Pool, often called Cleopatra's Pool, where you can see submerged columns and ruins that are said to have fallen during an earthquake.

Pamukkale is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its geological and historical importance. When visiting, you can stroll barefoot on the designated paths along the terraces to keep them safe, soak in the thermal waters, and check out the archaeological remains of Hierapolis. The mix of natural beauty and rich history makes Pamukkale a special place to explore in Turkey!

Hierapolis is an ancient city close to Pamukkale in southwestern Turkey. It started as a thermal spa back in the 2nd century BCE. Known for its healing hot springs, the town really flourished during Roman times and became a key spot for culture and religion. Some of the must-see sites include the well-preserved Roman theater, a huge necropolis, the Temple of Apollo, and the Plutonium, an ancient sanctuary. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hierapolis stands out for its cool mix of natural beauty and historical significance. The ruins give a peek into how ancient civilizations lived, and the scenery just adds to the charm of the place.
